Eligibility: This event is an exclusive Board Boat regatta. Yacht club membership is NOT a requirement for race entry. Non-HCYC member entrants and crews are welcome to the HCYC facility, located at the Canyon Lake Marina.
Rules: This race will be governed by the RACING RULES OF SAILING 2017-2020, this Notice of Race, and by the current version of the Canyon Lake Sailing Instructions (S.I.'s) as modified for HCYC use, dated February 17th, 2016.
Classes: All Day Sailer class boats. Other board boats such as Portsmouth class and other board boats are also invited to participate.
Races & Course: Races will consist of a course based on wind conditions on race day. The Race Committee will set the course at their discretion. The starting area will be in the cove adjacent to the Canyon Lake Marina. Expect a minimum of three races if conditions permit. The Race Committee (RC) has the prerogative to adjust races as necessary for weather, safety or other reasons.
Start / Finish: Start will be to windward. Finish line will be the same as the Start line, while keeping the Marina to starboard and the finish mark to port, unless otherwise briefed at the Skipper's meeting. A map of course or courses will be given out at skippers meeting. Expect to use a combination of selected W.O.R.D. buoys and HCYC-owned marks. All marks are to be rounded to port.
CAVEAT: Reasonable attempt will be made by Race Committee to call attention to the location of the marks. However, failure to easily ascertain the exact location of a mark by a Boat shall not be grounds for protest or redress. GPS coordinates will not be provided.
Trophies: Trophies will be based upon registrations received per fleet. 3-4 boats = 1 trophy; 5-7 = 2; 8-9 = 3; 10-15 = 4. The minimum number of trophies per fleet is one (1).
Timetable: Late registration begins Friday, 12:00 AM, September 22nd, 2017. End of Registration: 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 23rd, 2017. Sailing Instructions, and course maps will be available at 10:00 AM Skippers Meeting at HCYC. Sailing Instructions are also available on-line at; www.hcyc-tx.com, under "Programs", "Sail Programs".
Start of Race: 12:30 PM, Saturday, September 23, 2017. Starting sequence begins at 12:25 PM. Time limits for races in this regatta are as specified in the S.I.'s (see "Rules" section).
Results Presentation: All racers, crew, and their families are invited to the HCYC clubhouse following the race for BYOB refreshments. Please note the Hill Country Yacht Club does not serve beer or alcoholic beverages. All racers, crew, and other guests are welcome to BYOB.
Disclaimer of Liability: Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS #4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
Insurance: Each participating boat shall be insured at owner’s expense with valid third-party liability insurance.
Registration may be done online at through HCYC website Event Calendar. Payment may be made by selecting the "Register Now" button and completing the entry. Note that payment must be finalized within 30 minutes of pressing the "Complete Registration" button or your entry will be not be recorded. Registrations received after September 22, 2017 will have a $5 late fee added to registration.
Competitive classes: $25.00 per boat. Non-Competitive class: $5.00 per boat.
